Meteorite Theory

Meteorite or impactite with Widmanstätten pattern. The striations also occur on shatter cones. The core has type 1 crossing grid bricking. Widmanstätten patterns, planar deformation features and impact bricking/geometrics are shock made imprints of the shock waves present at origin. Shock physics forms and fossils can be difficult to tell apart. 8 Nov. 2025.

Granular particle grain constructions are called "Constellationing." 5P: Constellationing | mysite

In this meteorite you can see the granular particle construction in the core and in the ablative crust. That is because the core material is the source of the ablative crust retaining its original character. 8 Nov. 2025.

Here again you can see the granular grain construction. The broken section reveling the core shows it well. This was an impactite in space. The impact in space made "the common particle." Common particles vary in size based on distance sorting and the pulverization energy. 8 Nov. 2025.
SPECTACULAR ORIENTED STONE METEORITE, The Sahara Desert | Christie’s

Beyond the ablative crust you have cindering plasma cavitation. The physics of this earth entry were more intense than the ablative crust. Sometimes people find cinders on their roofs. 8 Nov. 2025.

Another simple orientation but look how the plasma cavitation has reveled the granular particle construction i.e. Constellatioining. 8 Nov. 2025.
Meteorite Facts for Kids - Interesting Facts about Meteorites

The simple fundamentals is a meteorite is heated from the outside inwards from the friction of earth atmosphere entry and an impactite is hot all over or resonate cooked from the inside out like your microwave oven does. The specimen shown above an impactite was hot all over and shaped by the expelling velocity. Apparently it also had a spin. Impactite speeds are greater than the average meteorite. This is because they were larger objects perhaps not even slowed by earth entry because of size and the explosion launch when the hit earth can be twice the impact speed. A meteorite might be slowed to 200 mph when hitting earth but a large bolide/protoplanet could hit earth at up to 30 mile per second and expel impactites at 60 miles per second, galaxy speed. 8 Nov. 2025.

I think the patination shows this was originally iron sulphide pyrite or Marcasite and it has chemically weathered to iron hydroxide, Geoethite.

Directional Cavitation/Cindering - You just don't see that much. Impact or Volcanic. Volcanic velocities up to 700 mph. No, that won't make a specimen like shown above. So that just leaves meteorite or impactite. A whole body clean burn cavitation favors impactite. Meteorites tend to show ablation. Impact has the advantage of blasting all the air away making possible a clean cavitation. April 22, 2024.

Is this basalt ? Someone said that's what it was. Got it at an estate sale today.

Alas, here we have the same effect with ablation. 12 Nov. 2025.

Impact sphere meteorite. When you have a crater blast liquid drops will be formed even with a small crater like the Barringer Crater (Meteor Crater, AZ). With larger craters these spheres can be blasted even out to space (The Chicxulub world wide impact debris contains small spheres). This one however has surface cavitation consistent with it spinning some but it also has a melt surface consistent with that side being held in the entry face for some time. It could have been launched into orbit by an earth impact or other planet impact. It could have just made an arc through the atmosphere without entering space more like a tektite. It is worth thousands of dollars. 20 Nov. 2025.

Meteorite theory versus crater theory. The sudden stop is what releases the kinetic energy right? Well you can clearly see the explosion in the atmosphere here, a fireball sequence. Apparently just the stress of atmosphere friction can detonate kinetic shock to explode the meteor mass. 5 Dec. 2025.

Geminid Meteor at Eleven Mile Reservoir, Colorado

Meteorite, with interesting entry angle. The entry angle is the bottom and tilted foreword slightly. Not slag or an impactite. Slag does not make this kind of cavitation or transition. Impactites are formed in events that make the whole rock hot not a surface effect cavitation. Impactites do not have oxygen ablation surfaces as the explosion makes its own non oxygen environment. 7 Dec. 2025.
